Healthy Dog Food and Food to Watch Out For

November 18, 2010

A good well balance dog food such as James Wellbeloved which is wholesome and hypo allergenic is particularly good for dogs with a delicate stomach or who have sensitive skin such as the Wheatens. I feed my dog the duck and rice kibble because I’ve been told Ducks can’t be factory farmed and so are more likely free range. As well as a good dog food you can also feed your dog some human food, such as chicken, beef (no fat or skin), egg, and fish such as tuna. Pork is said to be too rich for dogs stomachs. Please remember that certain human foods can give your dog potentially life threatening colic such as raw onions. I wouldn’t give them cooked onions either. Raisins are not good and a relatively small amount of dark chocolate can actually kill a dog. Alcohol is also a very bad idea as their body mass is much smaller than a human and would affect them more quickly and to a greater extent. Most dogs like bones and will happily eat any bone put in front of them, however it is best to only give them large beef bones only, as all other bones like pork and chicken can shatter and injure your dogs throat and intestines.
